Everything you need to know

Are you ready for Game Day? Below is all the information you need to get your Game Face on for the first ever Mind Games Race for Research this Friday 18th October. It’s Game On!

Venue:

The Goods Shed Evans Street, Mac Point.

Time:

Registration opens at 8am, event briefing at 8.45am for the Games kick-off at 9am sharp.

What you’ll need:

  • Comfortable, closed-in shoes are essential
  • Clothes you can move in – better yet, glam it up in a team costume!
  • At least one smartphone per team
  • A drink bottle (there will be refill stations)
  • Communication, collaboration and listening skills
  • A great attitude, plenty of energy and an imagination!

How to win great prizes:

Prizes will be awarded on the day for teams who top the score ladder, but we also have a whole swag of amazing prizes for teams who display great team-work, communication, and enthusiasm, as well as for the best dressed team. See the list at the bottom of this email for our amazing prize donors.

And we’ve saved some of the best prizes for our top fundraisers …

Be the top fundraiser – The Mind Games Fundraising Challenge:

Teams and individuals can raise even more money to fund critical research into the prevention and treatment of mental health problems at Menzies Institute for Medical Research. There are prizes for the team and individual who raise the most money, but every little bit counts! It’s as easy as clicking this link: https://mindgames.blackbaud-sites.com/

How to register your team on Game Day:

Registration opens at 8am. Follow the signage to the registration desk at Red Square. Only one team member needs to register and collect the schedule, map and wrist bands for the rest of the team. Once you’ve registered, please go to the stage near the registration desk for a team photo.

The schedule:

The Mind Games will be action-packed! To keep everything running smoothly, we’ll need to stick to a tight schedule, so please keep your copy of the schedule and course map to hand. If you have any questions, ask a volunteer (we’ll be in the fluro yellow caps).

8.00am – Registrations open
8.45am – Event briefing
9.00am – The Mind Games begin!
12.00pm – Lunch
12.30pm – Speech and Q&A with our special guest, Ian Thorpe
1.30pm – Games resume
3.30pm – Closing ceremony and prize announcements

Food:

At registration, each team member will get a wrist band that gives them access to the catered lunch. There will be free snacks available throughout the day, water stations to refill your drink bottle, as well as hot drinks for purchase in Red Square. If you have any dietary requirements, please email info@themindgames.com.au

Parking:

You can park at Mac Point, adjacent to the Goods Shed. It costs $5 for the day, with all money going to Rotary Club of Hobart. Look out for the signs in Evans Street directing you where to go.

Other things to consider:

There will be no space to store bags and valuables. Just bring what you need for the day in a small bag you can carry around with you.
