Menzies

We are thrilled to let you know that The Mind Games is a research partner with the Menzies Institute of Medical Research for an upcoming study that is looking at the potential value of a new workplace mental health benchmarking tool.

And as a valued member of The Mind Games community, we are inviting you to be involved in the study, and play a role in shaping workplace mental health research, policy and practice here in Tasmania.

A brief outline of the intent of the study:

  • SafeWork NSW has developed a Benchmarking Tool that provides a measure of current organisational capabilities and practices that support workplace mental health. The purpose of the Benchmarking Tool is to provide evidence-based information for guiding and evaluating organisational and sectoral workplace mental health strategies.
  • The Tool has been pilot tested in NSW.
  • There are plans to roll-out this assessment in Tasmania in partnership with WorkSafe Tasmania and the Department of Health.
  • Our colleagues from Menzies, both of whom have been involved with The Mind Games since we started, Professor Angela Martin and Dr Larissa Bartlett, are road-testing this benchmarking tool to see if it is fit-for-purpose in Tasmania, and will meet the needs of employers wanting to work in an evidence-driven way.

Larissa and Angela are looking for senior executives or people leaders from 30 different Tasmanian organisations to join them for an in-person workshop in Hobart. The workshop will be held on Thursday 29 February and again on Wednesday 6 March – participants only need to attend one of these.

It will be an interactive workshop where Larissa and Angela will actively collect impressions of the acceptability, feasibility and usefulness of the Benchmarking Tool for Tasmanian organisations. This is important work as there is currently no way to know how capable Tasmanian organisations feel about managing psychosocial hazards and ensuring that workplaces are mentally healthy.

Would you like to join the discussion?

This invitation is being extended to organisations within The Mind Games community in this first instance, as we know that this is a group of individuals and organisations with a commitment to workplace mental health.  The workshop will be catered. Participation is voluntary and there is some capacity to cover out-of-pocket expenses incurred through your participation.

If you are interested in being part of this workshop, please follow the link below to register your Expression of Interest in joining the workplace mental health benchmarking study.

We’re proud to be partnering with Menzies for this research study, and to be able to extend this invitation for members of The Mind Games community to play a role in helping shape future policy and practice.

With kind regards

Sherri and The Mind Games team
